I’ve made a new Chemfiesta! The old site was confusing, so instead of linking to giant bodies of links, I’ve put everything into .zip files you can download. Check it out:
- Chemistry: The Awesomest Science is a complete textbook in human readable format. If you want tutorials, this is the place to go!
- Practice worksheets (lots): Lots and lots of practice worksheets about any topic you can think of. Some don’t have answers, but I’m working on getting answers for all of them, too!
- Tutorial Power Points All the PowerPoints I give my students throughout the year, for another way to solve those pesky chemistry problems. Now in handy .zip format!
- Practice quizzes: It wouldn’t be much good for you to have review stuff if you didn’t have any tests and quizzes to practice on, too, would it?
Teachers: If you want lesson plans and stuff, go to the Cavalcade o’ Teaching, which you can visit by clicking here.
Of course, this will only be handy before asteroid DEN-1987b plunges into the Pacific Ocean on June, 2028. When this happens, it’s every man and woman for themselves.

The Cavalcade o' Chemistry 
Where did the chili recipe go? I’ve loved it for years, but never bothered to print it out.
Step 1: Prep the Seeds. Spread open a paper towel, place all chilli seeds evenly on it.
Step 2: Soil and Germination. Chilli plants usually require an airy soil which is well drained.
Step 3: Flowering.
Regularly water and nourish the plant and the chillies will grow bigger and bigger.

I have been struggling with trying to figure out the rationale behind how to correctly use the roman numerals when naming a compound all semester. Tonight I found this website on a practice exam we were given in class and in literally 5 minutes I had mastered the process. I realize it’s been a several years since this comment was posted but I too would love a recommendation of which text book you would recommend. I’m so happy to have found this site. You’re not serious about your gas stoichiometric question on water are you?
Step 7: Switching gears to gases
Now that we’ve done some moles-grams stuff, you’ll notice that our next step is to convert from moles of water vapor to liters of water vapor. This is done using our friend PV = nRT, or in the case of gases at STP, 22.4 L/mol.
In this example we’re at STP, so we’ll just continue the calculation above using “22.4 L” as our conversion factor:
Water is NOT a gas at STP, and your quantity of water has a volume of approx. 20mL. at STP., except maybe on Venus or Mercury..

2) The best way to fix problems is to get the input of others.

In highschool (7 years ago now…wow!) I took AP chemistry and it was thanks to you that I learned how to balance equations! Fast forward to now, I have graduated with a BSc. Honors in Chemistry from Concordia University in Montreal, and I am currently pursuing my MSc. in Chemistry! I truly feel that I owe a lot of my success to you, you are one of my chem-heroes!

Wow… I totally didn’t realize that this wasn’t working. I’m not sure what’s happened, but I’ve fixed things up considerably. The new worksheets page is up at (https://chemfiesta.org/2018/11/09/worksheets-2/) and it has all of the worksheets on the site listed. Weirdly enough, I found that in about the middle of 2018 the worksheets disappeared off of the page sidebar as well, so they’re up there, too. In this single water molecule, there are two atoms of hydrogen. Given that the molar mass of hydrogen is 1.0 g/mol (check out the periodic table), the mass of both oxygen atoms together is 2.0 grams.
Typo; Should read hydrogen atoms together is 2.0.
